Thank you for choosing Willie Pete’s Custom Baits, LLC! I am Brent Hill, an Army veteran who has a passion (obsession) for the outdoors. I have been making bass and crappie jigs for friends and family for several decades. I am an avid tournament angler, fishing guide, and ArmyBassAnglers pro-staff member. For several years, I have been using big swimbaits and glide baits to target giant bass. As with my jigs, I felt that I could make a quality swimbait to catch big bass and started the journey to pursue that goal. After some trial and error, I now have a bait that is tested, proven, and performs at the highest level.

So how did I come up with the name Willie Pete? Well, I’m a long time Field Artilleryman, and the name “Willie Pete” is short for White Phosphorus. Willie Pete (WP) is a military munition and base ejecting artillery round that deploys an air bursting submunition canister, typically used for incendiary effects, screening, spotting, and signaling.

Over the years, I have shot thousands of WP artillery rounds. Every time I shot the round, it was such a beautiful sight! Sending a cloud of white smoke around target areas to provide screening cover for infantrymen to maneuver or marking a target for a bomb drop. Therefore, when I was thinking of a name for my company, Willie Pete first came to mind, and I think it fits!

Willie Pete’s swimbaits are built with only high-quality components; handmade and hand tuned by yours truly. Each resin swimbait is 7 inches long, weigh 2.5 ounces, and are slow sinking with rotating hook hangers. I designed the stainless-steel hinge pin to be removed so you can tune the bait as needed. WP swimbaits are a true hybrid; meaning they glide, chop, and swim extremely well.
